Tesla Create Cybertruck To be 'WaterProof Enough' To Cross Rivers
Recently, Elon Musk tell that Tesla Cybertruck is going to be ‘waterproof enough’ to cross rivers easily and it would serve as a boat for a short time. As the CEO of Tesla company twitted a post today saying:
“Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes, and even seas that aren’t too choppy.”
One more thing that Musk added is the primary goal of making Cybertruck waterproof to be able to cross the water between SpaceX’s Starbase and South Padre Island in Texas:
“Needs be able to get from Starbase to South Padre Island, which requires crossing the channel.”
It could mean that the Cybertruck needs to travel in the water for about 360 meters (1,100 feet), which is the strongest distance in the Brazos Santiago Pass that separates the island from Starbase where it is located.
Well, it is not the first time that Musk has discussed Tesla vehicles being used as a boat.
A few years back, the CEO said that Model S can also be used as a boat after seeing a Tesla Model S driving through a flooded tunnel. Although, the CEO of the company makes it crystal clear that it wasn’t recommended.
Then, in 2020, he says that the people can be able to turn the Cybertruck into a boat, even some of their plans to take it to a whole new level.
Earlier, Cybertrucks can be converted into catamarans quickly with a conversion kit. This was previously reported.
However, the Cybertruck now has an undercarriage that appears to be waterproof enough to allow it to float, and the wheels should provide propulsion in calm waters, so drivers can travel slowly.
Cybertruck fans who look forward to using it on off-road trails shouldn't have any worries about some water. It is expected that Tesla's Cybertruck will go into production at Gigafactory Texas in mid-2023.
