Orient Insurance Company Review
The Orient Insurance Company has been operating in the UAE for the past 37 years. It shows the trust people have put into the company. Before we start this review, it is vital to take an overview of the various types of insurance-related services it offers. A quick view of the website will reveal that Orient offers the following services:
- Personal Insurance
- Commercial Insurance
- Medical Insurance
- Life Insurance
The review will be confined to one particular service, i.e. motor insurance or in other words “car insurance”. Before elaborating on the company’s motor insurance, it is vital to understand how it treats its employees. After all, if a company does not treat its employees with respect and honesty, how can one expect it to act faithfully towards its customers.
Therefore, for this purpose, we conducted a review of different job sites to see how past/present employees viewed the company. Reviews from Glassdoor and Indeed regarding the organization’s conduct towards its employees is positive. Most of mentioned a learning and respectful environment.
Now, back to the topic.
Motor Insurance
Motor insurance is a part of the personal insurance category. Currently, the company provides three types of motor insurance:
- Fleet Insurance
This is perfect for businesses that have a large fleet of cars including taxi service providers or car rental businesses.
- Comprehensive
As mentioned before in our blog posts, it is full option insurance for motor vehicles. It includes loss/damage to a third party (or parties) as well as yourself.
- Third-Party Liability
The simplest form of motor coverage and the minimal level required under the UAE law. It only covers damage to the third party and not yourself.
What Makes Orient Stand Out?
As said before, Orient Insurance Company has been operating in the UAE for more than 37 years now. It shows their commitment to customers and the trust that customers have in them. Otherwise, insurance is such a business that one bad mistake can cause irreparable damage to the brand’s reputation.
Being in this business for as long as they have can only mean one thing and that is the customers are extremely satisfied with Orient’s offerings. After all, why not? In 2017, S & Global gave the company a rating of ‘A’. 2017 was a remarkable year for the company as it also became the largest insurer in the UAE.
It posted gross premiums written (GPW) AED 4,027 million. In the previous year, the GPW was AED 2,673 million. A sizeable contribution to this increase comes from the motor insurance category. Based on this information, we can easily conclude that Orient is a popular choice for vehicle owners in Dubai and elsewhere.
A quick review of their “Motor Plus” policy tells us why. It offers:
- Repairs at the dealer or agency workshop. However, this is only available during the vehicle’s first three years. The benefit of this is that you can get premium-quality service at a fraction of the cost.
- Also provides protection against acts of nature. In short, you are protected against natural calamities like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes/tropical storms or any other similar natural disasters.
- It also provides protection against damage caused by rioters or miscreants during strikes.
- In case your personal effects like clothes, phone, laptops get stolen or are damaged during a fire, the policy covers up to AED 1,000.
- If you end up in a collision and require a visit to the hospital, then this coverage also provides a cover of AED 500 per person.
- This policy provides legal liability to immediate family members which many other policies of other insurance providers do not.
- This policy also provides 4WDs with off-road cover as well.
- Most insurers do not cover claims for windscreen damages. However, under this policy, you do not need to pay extra for windscreen claims.
- If your battery dies in the middle of nowhere or suffers a flat tire with no spare tire in the trunk, feel free to call Orient. Under this policy, you get access to roadside assistance as well.
- Under this policy, the insured individual also gets life insurance coverage for a maximum of AED 100,000.
- If you are looking for more reasons to buy this policy, then Orient has given you another one. If you find yourself driving in the Sultanate of Oman, you are covered under this policy without any extra charges or hidden costs!
Final Thoughts
