With the improvement in automobile design over the years, tire development has also been greatly improved over the decades. Today, the tires give a quieter, smoother, better handling ride, and continue to improve durability. This brief timeline highlights some of the major innovations in tire design.

For businessmen, women, and regular motorists, the development of the tyre has given the vehicles more efficiency, control, and power. Without the tyres, modern motoring would not be today what it is. There is no doubt that the cars and vehicles we see on the roads today couldn't function with such primitive tyres as the very first tyres were made of leather or iron strapped around wooden wheels.
